WENDY GRICE holds a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Western Sydney. She is a Member of the Australian Psychology Society and the College of Clinical Psychologists.
Wendy has experience and interest in treating a range of anxiety disorders, depression, anger, self harm and long standing difficulties with emotion regulation.
Wendy has worked extensively in the public sectors of health and disability services. She specialises in working with people with an intellectual disability who also have complex presentations including psychosis, self-harm and suicidal ideation, substance abuse, anxiety and mood disorders and extensive trauma histories. When working with clients with intellectual disabilities she works with the family/carer system for each client to ensure that her interventions are thorough and effective.
Wendy has experience in applying Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) for women with pervasive emotion regulation and interpersonal difficulties, and also modifies DBT for those people with an intellectual disability and forensic issues. She has co-authored a modified DBT teaching manual for people with intellectual disability and has written a skills coaching program for those supporting people who are undergoing DBT.
In addition to her work at Southside Health and Well-Being, Wendy works as a Clinical Psychologist in Community Mental Health. As part of a team she works with people with a diverse range of psychological issues. This includes people experiencing long-term mood, anxiety, anger, personality, relationship and psychosis difficulties often related to histories of trauma and abuse.
Wendy works within an integrative framework, drawing on a number of therapy models including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), DBT, Mindfulness, trauma-focused therapy and supportive psychotherapy. She focuses on the client's needs, interests, abilities and strengths as she works alongside them on their desired path.
