Telehealth Video and Phone Consultations

Protecting the health and wellbeing of our clients, practitioners, staff and the community is our highest priority. Telehealth services (video and phone consultations) are available for clients who are unwell or unable to travel to the clinic. 


About Coviu

SECURE, CONFIDENTIAL AND EFFECTIVE

Video appointments have been shown to be just as effective and helpful as in-person appointments. Your privacy and confidentiality is very important to us and for that reason we have chosen to use the Coviu platform. Coviu is Australia's leading video telehealth solution, powering simple, secure and feature-rich video consultation. Endorsed by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the Australian & New Zealand Mental Health Association, Coviu is now the solution of choice for psychologists.


WORKS ON ANY DEVICE

Coviu works on any device (computer, tablet, or phone). Coviu works on all major browsers but works best on the latest Google Chrome browser. For iPhones and iPads Coviu requires Safari 12+ and they recommend using the latest iOS. 


WHAT DO I DO ON THE DAY OF MY APPOINTMENT?

You do not need to register or create an account with Coviu. You will simply receive an appointment invitation email and all you need to do is click on this link and join your therapist for your appointment.


You will be taken to a page that says “Your therapist’s room”. Join this room as a guest. You will then be directed to take a photo (If you would prefer not to take a picture of yourself, just lean out of the camera angle and snap) and provide some personal information. This is just to inform the practitioner about who is in the waiting room - none of this information is stored by Coviu or reused anywhere else. Enter your name and click continue. You can then wait in the waiting room until your psychologist starts the therapy session.

IF USING A MOBILE PHONE OR TABLET, ARE THERE ANY LIMITATIONS TO BE AWARE OF?

The biggest limitation on a phone or tablet is the size of the screen. If you are comfortable holding/propping a phone or tablet for an entire session, then it's a solid experience. The other concern with a phone is just ensuring you are connected to wifi and not using the mobile carrier's data as this can cause high data usage on your phone bill and also provide a less consistent overall experience with occasional video glitches.


WHAT INTERNET SPEED DO I NEED TO USE COVIU? 

You will need 3 mbps download and upload to get the most out of Coviu. If you have a lower internet speed (e.g. your home is still on ADSL) and multiple members of your household are streaming data to their devices, you may find that your connection on Coviu is problematic. In that case you may want to ask family members to NOT use the internet for activities that use a lot of bandwidth, in particular using streaming services such as NETFLIX, STAN, youtube or playing online games, while you are doing a Coviu session

COVID-19 Medicare Telehealth Services

Who is eligible for Medicare Telehealth Rebates?

MBS telehealth items are available to providers of Medicare telehealth services for a wide range of consultations. All Medicare eligible Australians can receive these services. The telehealth MBS items will substitute current face-to-face consultations that are available under the MBS.


Are Private Health Rebates available for Telehealth? 

The majority of Australian health funds have agreed to provide coverage for teleconsultations provided by psychologists.
